How old will my puppy be when it comes home? ... Our puppies leave for their new homes at 8 weeks of age.
Does my new puppy come with papers? ... Yes, all our puppies come with American Kennel Club (AKC) papers. All companions/pets are sold on limited registration, that is, not for breeding or showing.
How many litters do we breed per year? ... We generally only breed three or four litters a year or when we are looking to keep a puppy for ourselves.
Will my Rottweiler puppy have a tail? ... Yes, your puppy will have a tail.
Are Rottweilers reliable with children? ... Provided they are trained and socialized correctly, and very importantly, children are encouraged to treat the Rottweiler with kindness and respect-then, yes, they can be very reliable around children. But, however reliable you may think any dog is (even your own), we believe that no dog should ever be left unsupervised with children or babies.
How much exercise does an adult Rottweiler require? ... The Rottweiler is a working dog and they require lots of exercise. Running loose in the backyard is not considered exercise. Do not consider getting a Rottweiler if you cannot provide this basic requirement.
How much exercise does our Rottweiler puppy need? ... Young puppies under twelve months of age should not have 'forced' exercise,such as jogging or very long walks on the leash. The mechanical movement of a puppy being forced to maintain the same pace on a leash before it is fully developed can cause damage to loose ligaments and immature joints. Free exercise, where the puppy can change from walk, to romp to trot, are fine, as well as shorter periods on leash, for training, etc. Hip and Elbow Dysplasia are joint diseases which can be induced by improper exercise. Joint and ligament problems can also result from allowing your rottweiler puppy to jump in and out of cars and trucks and continually using stairs.
Can my new puppy run free with other dogs? ... Just like having forced exercise or jumping down and up from the ground and high places, having your puppy run free with dogs that are bigger and older and stronger is highly likely to result in injuries to your puppy.

How to Feed your Puppy an All Natural Diet with Volhard Dog Nutrition

Puppy Feeding Guidelines for Volhard Dog Nutrition (Updated information!) After a collaborative effort between Wendy Volhard (Founder of VDN), Jennifer Carter (VP of Marketing and Sales), and Brian & Lisa Berg (Owners of VDN), we’ve made a few updates to the Puppy Feeding Guidelines. We’ve heard from several sources that the previous instructions were a little confusing. We hope this new method will make it more understandable and easier to feed your precious pups!

PUPPY FEEDING GUIDELINES (7 weeks to 7 months through teething)

NDF2: Step 1: Weigh your puppy. Step 2: Double the amount of food designated for your puppy’s weight. ---Example: Puppy weighs 12 lbs - feed for a 25 lb dog. Step 3: Feed the amount of food calculated in Step 2, four times a day. ---Example: Puppy should be fed for a 25 lb dog which is 1⁄4 cup NDF2, 1⁄4 cup protein and 1⁄2 cup water. This equals 1 feeding. Step 4: Feed the amount identified in Step 3, four times a day; one meal at 8 am, one at noon, one at 4 pm and the last at 8 pm. ---Example: Daily amount equals 1 cup NDF2, 1 cup protein and 2 cups water. Step 5: Weigh your dog weekly to see change and/or weight gain. Gradually increase the amount you feed as your puppy grows. ---Example: Puppy’s weight increased to 20 lbs from 12 lbs at the start. You will now feed for a 40 lb dog. Follow steps above. When the puppy is finished teething, reduce feeding to three times a day and decrease the amount slightly so the dog maintains a healthy weight. Around 6 to 7 months, reduce to two feedings following the guidelines for the weight of your dog.
